INDIA STAGES DRAMATIC COMEBACK TO DEFEAT SLOVAKIA 3–2 IN ITTF WORLD TEAM TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS IN LONDON

In a thrilling Group 7 clash at the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships in London’s Copper Box Arena, India staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Slovakia 3–2. After trailing twice, Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah delivered wins, propelling India to the top of the group ahead of their match against Guatemala, while the women’s team prepares to face Rwanda in its final group stage fixture.

 

In the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships held at the Copper Box Arena in London, India delivered a spirited and high-pressure comeback to defeat Slovakia 3–2 in a Group 7 encounter, moving to the top of the group standings ahead of their upcoming tie against Guatemala.

Slovakia drew first blood as Lubomir Pistej overcame Manush Shah in the opening contest. India responded swiftly as Manav Thakkar levelled the tie by defeating Jakub Zelinka. The momentum shifted again when Wang Yang restored Slovakia’s lead with a win over Harmeet Desai.

India, however, mounted a decisive turnaround. Manav Thakkar produced a commanding performance against Lubomir Pistej to bring the contest back on level terms. In the final and decisive match, Manush Shah held his nerve to defeat Jakub Zelinka, sealing a crucial 3–2 victory for India.

In the women’s competition, the Indian team is set to face Rwanda in its final group stage fixture. Both the men’s and women’s teams are scheduled to complete their respective group matches tonight, marking a decisive phase in India’s campaign at the championships.
